GLB was the sole reason I joined this forum. He reached out to me after I quit the ESPN boards. (he's the only person from that forum that had my contact info)
I planned a meeting with him the Christmas before he died, but my sister-in-law was killed in a tragic accident a few months before. My wife's family was in a very bad place at the time with custody issues, etc, etc... I told him it was a bad time and I'd have to take a rain check until next year.... he died 6-7 weeks later. It's a regret I still have to this day because I surely could have met with him had I known he wouldn't make it another year.
That was a horrible Christmas on so many levels.....my wife's sister was a single mom that worked for OSU hospital. She rode in a charity OSU bike ride to southern ohio and was hit by a car and killed during the charity event. Single mom with 2 kids....ugh.. a bad year! For a few years, the family was being ripped apart by the seams.
That aside...I wish I could have a 'do-over' and take GLB out to dinner or something.
