NVM, I found the explanation on a PSU wrestling board . . .

I could agree with you, but I would be wrong too. How is that going to help anyone?

I was going to post this shortly but you beat me to it. The "explanation" is their attempt to make fun of tOSU's explanation as to why Logan lost at Penn State last year. The fact was Logan was ill (he would never say that because he doesn't make excuses for losses...however the fact he soundly defeated that guy the next 2 times he faced him kind of supported that). Anyhow, I saw this coming. In fact, I predicted Ohio State winning 23-12 but 22-15 isn't bad. This was simply a sound beating by tOSU over the #3 ranked (and 4x defending national champs) Nittany Lions. The funny thing is this beating could have been worse. It could have been 28-6. The Buckeyes lost a 1 pt match at 133 lbs that I truly feel we will win next time. Very close match that we've won in the past. At 157lbs, we lost in OT. Again, that's a match we've won in the past and will win in the future. At 174lbs, we had our backup in and even though we would have lost that match we wouldn't have gotten pinned (so that takes 3 points off the PSU score). Like I said, even though the Buckeyes weren't perfect they were MUCH better than PSU...which is saying something. Here is a recap on how the Buckeye's season is going thus far: The Buckeyes have lost 3 times this year. The frustrating part of that is in 2 of those losses the dual meet score was tied after all 10 matches were wrestled. In both cases the Buckeyes lost on tie break criteria. Against Virginia Tech, VT had more combined points scored in the 10 matches than tOSU (that was tie breaker criteria #4 I believe...the first 3 are total matches won, 2nd is total number of pins per team, 3rd is total of bonus point wins, and 4th is total match points scored which VT had 1 more pt than tOSU). Against Missouri, this loss was even harder to stomach because it came down to something like criteria #6 or 7 which was who got the 1st takedown of the dual meet. To put it in football terms, the loss to VT would be like our football team losing to PSU at the end of regulation because PSU had more yards of offense while the loss to Mizzou would have been like losing to PSU at the end of regulation because PSU got the first 1st down of the game. Imagine the frustration we'd feel if we lost 2 games because of that criteria. Against VT we were not at full strength. We were missing our All American 149 lber (Hunter Steiber) and Freshman phenom Bo Jordan. Against Mizzou, Hunter was back but clearly not wrestling like himself as it was evident his elbow injury was still giving him problems. Bo was still not wrestling at that time. Bo's presence against Mizzou definitely would have swung that match Ohio State's way. Against Iowa (a match I posted about as it was happening) we missed opportunities. Hunter's health (or lack thereof) was evident again as he dropped another match. This match was one he was clearly in control of until late in the 3rd period when the Iowa wrestler just started getting takedowns and Hunter was too wore out to really defend them ultimately losing 9-7. His lack of match time this season caught up with him there and in the end Ohio State lost 18-14. Had Hunter won, Ohio State would have won 17-15. So, as you see the Buckeyes are soooo close to being undefeated this year. Many Buckeye wrestling nuts (like myself) are frustrated by this team's performance thus far but are trying to keep in mind we have yet to see this team at full strength and full health. One thing is for sure, the Buckeye's hopes of winning that elusive NCAA team title rests on Hunter Steiber. He was viewed as a sure fire All American and possibly a finalist. However, the way he's wrestling thus far he'd be lucky to win 2 matches at the NCAAs. I'm hoping more matches will knock the rust off and he'll get right by the time the B1G tournament gets here. His winning today (albeit an unimpressive win) is a good first step towards getting back into his old form and becoming a strong point in the Buckeye lineup instead of a liability.

Thanks! I just saw it on twitter and knew you would have the inside skinny.
