Ohio State has only beaten Iowa 3 times in a dual meet. Urban is the honorary captain today. Below are the updates (team score in parenthesis)
125lbs - Gillman (Iowa) winner by decision over Nathan Tomasello (tOSU) 2-1 OT (Iowa 3 tOSU 0)
133lbs - Johnni DiJulius (tOSU) winner by decision over Corey Clark (Iowa) 7-5 (Iowa 3 tOSU 3)
141lbs - Logan Steiber (tOSU) winner by technical fall over Josh Dziewza (Iowa) 15-0 (Iowa 3 tOSU 8)
149lbs - Sorenson (Iowa) winner by decision over Hunter Steiber (tOSU) 9-7 (Iowa 6 tOSU 8) THIS ONE SURPRISED ME!
157lbs - Josh Demas (tOSU) winner by decision over Michael Kelly (Iowa) 5-2 (Iowa 6 tOSU 11)
We are now at the half way point w/ Ohio State leading. This is going to be a close one and tOSU is going to have to have some gutsy performances in the 2nd half as I'm sure we will lose HWT as well as 174. We should win 197 and could win 165. 184lbs is very pivotal. I'll update it later.
Update:
165lbs - Bo Jordan (tOSU) winner by decision over Nick Moore (Iowa) 9-2 (Iowa 6 tOSU 14)
Update #2:
174lbs - Mike Evans (Iowa) winner by decision over Mark Martin (tOSU) 5-2 (Iowa 9 tOSU 14) I'm actually happy it was this close. He's closed the gap quite a bit from a year ago.
Update #3:
184lbs - Sammy Brooks (Iowa) winner by decision over Kenny Courts (tOSU) 3-2 (Iowa 12 tOSU 14) If we win the next one then Iowa would have to win by technical fall or pin to win the dual. A pin is more likely than a tech fall but neither is likely unless our guy gets stupid.
Update #4:
197lbs - Nathan Burak (Iowa) winner by decision over Kyle Snyder (tOSU) 2-1 (Iowa 15 tOSU 14). I don't see us winning the last match so yet again this team has figured out how to piss away a victory. I had such high expectations for this team coming into this year (as did almost everyone else across the nation) but they just don't have it. I don't know what they are missing but this is NOT a championship team.
Final Update:
Hwt - Bobby Telford (Iowa) winner by decision over Nick Tavanello (tOSU) 4-0. Iowa wins the dual meet 18 to 14. All Ohio State had to do was win one of the final 4 matches and that would have clinched the dual meet for them. They were unable to do that and found themselves on the losing end of yet another dual meet. Yes...I'm pissed about this and the fact they are still the same old group from last year despite their tough talk leading up to the season. Nothing has changed w/ most of them who were on the team last year (for the positive anyways).
