Season will be big push to 8 teams

I don't care what team you root for, all 3 teams have a case why they should be in. TWO of them will be left out.


This season will lead to the big push for 8 teams that was expected but maybe a little bit faster.

8 teams is perfect.
Top 4 get home round 1 game.
Final 4 gets played like how this season is going to be played out in the FInal 4.

This year would have been a perfect playoff 8.

#8 MIchigan State @ #1 Bama
#7 Mississippi STate @ #2 Oregon
#6 Baylor/TCU @ #3 Florida State
Baylor/TCU vs Ohio State

I think it should be 8 - the 5 conference champions (Bama, Oregon, FSU, OSU and Baylor) + the 3 next best.

It is the best way to do it. Every conference gets a shot, and then 3 at large giving others a chance also.

4 is better than 2 but doesn't quite fix the problem yet. It needs to be 8. I would go no higher. We don't need 16. Too much.

Can you believe it, Mark Mays was just arguing against this. Of course, he argued against playoffs altogether. I don't know what his deal is honestly. Pretty much everyone knows there needs to be 8.

Here is the argument against it. It used to be, a fan had to save up to travel to a bowl game.

Now, you have to save up for a conference championship game, a bowl game, then championship game. Make it 8 teams and you have that plus a semi-final game. How are students supposed to afford that? Or the families of the players? Fan bases will not be able to afford this crap and they will have great difficulty selling tickets.
