Buckeye wrestlers open the season w/ convincing win

Ohio State kicked off the dual meet season tonight @ Ohio State w/ a very lopsided 38-3 win over the greatly overmatched Kent State. The Buckeyes won 9 out of 10 matches and the one match KSU won from tOSU was because our All American (Hunter Steiber) was out of the lineup tonight. Had he been wrestling, the Buckeyes would have won all 10 bouts.
Despite the convincing win, this was done w/ 2 of the 10 starters not wrestling tonight. 149 lber Hunter Steiber (RSJr) and 165 lber Bo Jordan (RSFr) were both sidelined tonight. Hopefully the Buckeyes will be at full strength sooner rather than later as they have some big tests coming up quickly.

Being that I don't follow wrestling besides what you post, what does overmatched mean? Would this be like football team vs football team overmatched or even worse?

Kent State has some decent wrestlers on their team (Ian Miller at 157lbs who lost by medical forfeit is ranked 3rd nationally I believe) but from top to bottom Ohio State is MUCH more talented than KSU. I suppose you could compare it to the football teams.

Do we have a Sumo team? I was born in Japan, and that is the only wrestling I watch. Because it's awesome.

Ha! Unfortunately no. However, our non-Sumo wrestling team is currently ranked as high as 2nd nationally and as low as 4th. By all accounts they are considered one of the favorites to win the NCAA team title this year...which would be Ohio State's first in wrestling ever.

My comparison of the KSU wrestling team to their football team isn't quite accurate. Kent State is ranked 21st nationally. The talent disparity between the Ohio State and Kent State wrestling teams, however, does currently mirror the football teams.
