If you were the CFB committee week 8

Thought it would be interesting to do. Lets say you're the committee for the 4 team playoff spot. Who is your four teams in RIGHT NOW. If the season ENDED today, who would be it? We will do it after every week.

Right now for me:
Ole Miss
Florida State
Miss State
ND


- 3 undefeated have impressive wins so they are in.
- Last spot was tough. ND impressed me in their game @fsu.

Bama, Oregon, Auburn, Michigan State, Ohio State, UGA were after them in some order.

Ole Miss and FSU for sure, not sure about the last two.

Here is my question. Let's say Jim B Winston gets suended, but F$U still runs the table and wins he awful ACC. Do they still get in?

I think so. If they're still undefeated at the end they get in. If one of those Mississippi schools runs the table, they're in as well. Doesn't matter how ugly they look doing it.

Marshall still has a shot to finish undefeated, but with their schedule, I don't think there's much they can do to get in.

I'm sure they're doing it this early to practice the process and to ease the public into how it will work. But if conference champions are really going to get more consideration, it might confuse people a little when we get to the final rankings.

For example, lets' suppose Ole Miss and Mississippi State remain in their top 4 throughout the regular season. Further suppose that Ole Miss wins the Egg Bowl, but Miss St still stays in the top 4 with their one loss. At that point no one has won a conf championship, so that isn't a criteria. But when the final rankings come out, if Miss St gets left out because of the one loss and not having a conf champ, lots of people will whine about it.

But in that scenario, they might put Miss St in regardless, so maybe it really doesn't matter.

I thought I read they were reporting out a "top 25". Is that incorrect? They can slot anyone they want wherever they want right now, but it's too early to get excited because some of the "top 4" still have to play each other.
