When I lived in Cincinnati, UC fans talked more sh!te than any scUMmer I had ever met. They think it is a "rivalry" for some damn reason, and their hate for OSU is laughable.
Now, after the game, I went to a few UC message boards (I don't post, I just like to read) and of COURSE the reason they lost is because OSU got home cooking from the refs. Never mind the over SEVEN HUNDRED yards of offense that their D conceded, no they would have won that game if it weren't for the PI call where Apple was pushed off (you know, the one that resulted in UC NOT catching the ball) and the illegal man downfield which, although they agree it was the right call, was ticky tacky and shouldn't have been called.
One mental giant even complained that the first TD pass that UC threw should have been a PI against Bell because "he was face guarding and didn't turn around". Clearly he doesn't know that in college YOU CAN FACE GUARD AND DON'T HAVE TO TURN AS LONG AS YOU AREN'T MAKING CONTACT.
I couldn't be happier that OSU doesn't play these idiots for another 5 years, though at this point I wished they played every year so that OSU could continue kicking their collective teeth in and we could stop hearing about the whole "rivalry" thing.

When I lived in Cincinnati, people didn't care that much about college football, as it was more of a NFL team town when it came to football.
Those that did weren't necessarily Ohio State fans. Notre Dame was probably more popular than OSU, mostly due to the large Catholic population there.
In basketball however, they do consider OSU to be a big rival. The two teams met each other in the finals 3 years in a row in the early 60s, and allegedly OSU would refuse to play UC in the regular season.
It's neat that UC finally cares about football. It helps that they've had some success with some good coaches (Dantonio, Brian Kelly, etc.), and maybe they'll find one that won't view the position as a stepping stone some day.

I thought it was funny that they were planning a blackout of Ohio Stadium, and pretty much all I saw were red shirts in the stands. Maybe they showed 6 people wearing black shirts.
And one of those black shirts was an Ohio State shirt.

I would be willing to bet there were more OSU fans wearing black than UC fans.

There might have been more UC players at the game, than there were UC fans wearing black shirts.
My best friend (brother from another mother) hhas always been a bearcat fan but he is not one of the disillusioned. He lays no claim to a rivalry. He is from Cincy so there is the bearcat love but he is also a Buckeye fan. Not crazy stupid like me but a fan. If Cincy had upset he would have rubbed it in though!
Kind of forgot to even mention them, since we we started on the topic of football and Xavier cut their football program in 1973. But for the out-of- towners:
Cincinnati is the big public school, enrollment is 42k+, and it's campus is in Clifton, a suburb just north of downtown.
Xavier is a private Jesuit school with enrollment around 6k, and they're up near Norwood, which is farther north and a little to the east.
When they play each other in hoops it's a big deal and they call it the 'Crosstown Shootout'.
You can probably come up with your own fanbase assumptions based on the demographic info above.
