TP wasn't banned by the university for leaving early. I'm sure there were a multitude of reasons, but I don't think the university was petty enough to ban him for that. The university was being investigated for illegal use of cars and he was showing up everyday with a new one. OSU never would have been in the NC game if not for MC. Saying otherwise is silly. Yes, he didn't have a great game since Miami keyed on our best player. That strip was one of the greatest plays in the history of our program it. Without it we likely woulnd't have won.
There is a lot of misplaced hatred for TP, I get that. At the same time, I feel like you have some for MC. You don't seem willing to give him the credit he deserves.
Clarett was worse. No argument for me, but he has shown remorse and has come full circle. I was reluctant to forgive him, but I have done so. I'm not there yet with TP. Just haven't seen the sincerity from him yet.
Okay, I just looked up an article to get a refresher on why TP received a ban. Per the article:
In a letter from Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith dated Tuesday, Smith said that Pryor was ineligible because he failed to cooperate with NCAA and Ohio State investigators. He then added, "The university must also dissociate you from its athletic program for a period of five years."
So take that for what it's worth. Who knows, maybe by TP "not cooperating" he kept OSU from stiffer penalties, I'm not sure.
I am not saying MoC didn't contribute that year or in the NCG, but saying that MoC "won OSU an NC" is absurd. That team was FAR from an offensive juggernaut, they won due to ball control and an AMAZING defense, not because of MoC.
I have NO hate for MoC, I have all the love in the world for the guy and I am really happy for him that he turned his life around. He seems to be retroactively appreciative for what OSU and JT in particular did to help him out. He has really turned a corner in his life after what as probably his darkest period, and I hope he can stay on the straight and narrow. Again, I have no hate or anger for MoC and I appreciate what he contributed.
BUT he wasn't a one man show at OSU, far from it, so I just am unwilling to give him ALL the credit, or even a lion's share, for the 2002 NC. That was a TEAM win if ever there was one.
As far as letting TP back into the OSU circle, I just think it's time. It's been over 3 years now, Tressel was allowed back into the stadium and worshipped like the hero he is, why not let TP back as well? Sure, he contributed to end of the JT reign, but he wasn't alone in that. He was kind of an idiot and came off as an arrogant jerk, but those reasons aren't enough to ban him for 5 years. He served his sentence, he is a BUCKEYE, and he won a LOT of games for OSU (a ton more than MoC did) so let's welcome him back!
Your liberal side is showing. lol
