ADV wasn't highly rated at all coming into Ohio State. Low 3*(Like McDonald). He was a project and needed a lot of work. Ohio State had a scholarship for offered it to him. He still had some good offers(Gonzaga, Arizona, Cal, Michigan, Ohio State) but he needed a lot of work. He was an okay shooter in HS and people was hoping that would translate to college but it never did.
I give him some credit. He had a couple good games here this year. But he was going to be passed up next year.

Also, if Ross leaves, Ohio State has 3 open scholarship I believe. Kinda late to use them though but maybe they can find a JUCO or 5th year transfer.
EDIT: Ohio State would have 10 scholarship players next year. Not very good. 2 of them are Williams/McDonald. 1 of them is David Bell who is a project and probably redshirt. The other is Tate who is hurt right now and not sure how ready he will be when he gets here.
Ohio State needs players. They need bodies.

Is the talent that low in Europe where ADV can find a home?
Talent's pretty good. You do get a lot of talented players that don't want to go over there so they may like to sign guys that they know will be lifers. Also, Euro Leagues are many, so who knows what level of league he plans on landing in.

To add on, there is A LOT of leagues like TPE said. ADV played on the U20 Italy team and was the star player on there. He could find a job out there easily and would be easier for him since he is Italian.
Remember PJ Hill? The energy bunny D2 transfer we had since we needed a PG. He played overseas for a few years, might still be playing.
Othello Hunter, Dallas Lauderdale, Ron Lewis, David Lighty, Jon Diebler, Terrence Dials are all still playing there. JJ Sullinger quit a few years ago. There might be a few more Buckeyes I'm forgetting.
Anyways there is a living out there for just the average player.
And if you're good, you can make a really good life. DeShaun Thomas makes 6 figures over there, gets free car, free living, etc. Great life just to play basketball.
PJ Hill is still playing over there. That right there tells you a lot. I loved PJ Hill for his energy, that dude was all hustle, I wish Amir has his heart. But he wasn't the most talented player to play here.
I didn't know who ADV stood for lol. Sucks to have a loss like that especially since Thad never worked him into the offense....or maybe he did and the boys just didn't execute. I could believe the former is probably most true.

Damn son!!! I would go also. Also read that DeShaun Thomas is getting paid $150,000 over there this year also.
Della Valle being from Italy, playing on national team U20, makes him big want by Italian clubs.

yeah, the worst possible outcome for some is not always bad. And for someone like ADV, even easier when it is your home country, so much easier to adjust over there.
