What I learned from several former tOSU Football players

Former tOSU Football players Roy Hall and Antonio Smith are behind the Driven Foundation coolrilla.com/Society/Philanthropy/ohio_non_profit/
They played a basketball game today just up the road from us benefiting a local suicide prevention organization that my wife partners with through her job.
Part of the even was a pre game meal with the players that came. It was very cool There was even a Q&A time too.
Here is what i learned today:
Most of the players that came were on the 2002 NC team.
They credit Tress with their success both on the field, but most importantly off the field after football too.
Andy Groom can BALL! He scored a good chunk of his teams points and never looked winded or gassed.
Demitrius Stanley has gotten out of shape, big time.
Simon Fraiser is at Ohio University studying to be a medical doctor. He is still cut! one of the local basketball coaches went up against him most of the game. Said he was solid and would not budge.
Gary Berry is still a baller too.
Many of players have gone on to be coaches or teachers because they found a passion for teaching the kids.
The fake field goal was planned in the NC. Simon Frazier didn't get the play right and down blocked. That was why it didn't work.
Every on elf them was very approachable and at no time ever displayed any arrogance because they were a former tOSU football player. Many of them referenced Tressel's game plan book. Saying they still use it to this day.
They all very much value that they beat Michigan and the gold pants. They value their time they spent at OSU and they are a true brotherhood.
Many were asked why they came to OSU. Most came because it was a childhood dream, but several who came from outside of Ohio said it was absolutely because of the tradition and the history.
Great foundation and great people. Very impressed with what these young men have done to pay it forward. Woody would be proud! I am sure Tress is too.
