I hope he can become fully healthy down there and bring his career back. Amazing talent, but even better person. Has always been good for Ohio State while he was here, and since he has left.
I hope he is the reason they win the title. It would be cool if he won a title before Durant.
I will root like crazy for him if Lebron has a season ending injury. That way, when people talk about his rings, I can say, "Big deal. They won it without him."

Greg Oden winning a title as a role player would be far less meaningful than Kevin Durant winning one. Unless of course he averages 18/10 or something like that, which seems unlikely.

I disagree. Greg Oden coming back from numerous severe injuries and making a significant contribution to a title winning team would be every bit as meaningful. Its more about what Oden had to overcome.

I guess Steve Kerr was every bit as meaningful as Mike and Scottie then if that's the case. He'd be a champ but he wouldn't be doing the heavy lifting.
It would be a great story for Oden to win one, but like TPE said unless Oden does something significant then his is just another role player/fill in for the big 3 in Miami. I just can't see him turning into the player that will eat minutes and double-double.
I really wish he would have signed anywhere else. Always been a fan. He seems like a great guy and I wish him the best. I simply can't stomach the Heat. Can't root for them.
Greg Oden could be the difference maker for Miami winning the 3rd title. Not saying he will be the main piece, but the difference of them winning and not.
Miami has shown that they can be beat, they're not so much better than all the other teams. OKC getting Westbrook back healthy, Bulls get healthy Rose/Noah, Nets improving, Pacers getting better and deeper and played them tough last year, Spurs should have beat them this year in 6, etc.
Miami needed to get better and they made no moves in the offseason except getting older and losing Mike Miller. So, the gap between them and others team got smaller. Now if Oden can be healthy, he is the down low man that could make a difference.
And I do think Oden can be a 12-8-2 type guy if healthy. That is perfect for them, since he will have good defense down low also.
No way he lasts more than 40 games, just too broken down. And any chance he ever comes back and finishes his degree at....ha, sorry, could not even type it with a straight face!
I think it is a really good fit. There won't be pressure on him there to be a superstar, he won't be the center of attention (as is his preferece) so I think he will thrive in his role there.
If he can stay healthy, and I really hope he can, he will do well there.
Oden seems like a nice guy, so I wish the best for him.
