This is a guy early on I wanted at OSU. NIce get for UM!
Vladimir Emilien decided between four schools at a press conference in his school at 9:30 a.m. The four schools Emilien was considering were Stanford, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Michigan, although sources close to him stated it came down to Michigan and Stanford.
Throughout his recruiting process Emilien stated a strong interest in playing for a Big Ten program and made it official this morning.
"Michigan felt like home to me, and it was just in my veins after I took a visit there," Emilien announced at his press conference according to rivals.com.
Emilien took an official visit to Ann Arbor the weekend of Oct. 24 and was quick to name Big Ten powers Michigan and Wisconsin his co-leaders. Before his visit to Michigan, Emilien had already taken one official to Wisconsin. The Buckeyes were the third Big Ten team in the sweepstakes but only received an unofficial visit in the spring.
The Florida safety also considered one other school as Stanford made a late push for his services. Stanford hosted Emilien for a visit on Nov. 14th, and Emilien came away very impressed by their academics, as he is a strong student who boasts a 3.8 GPA. But Michigan academically also fit Emilien's needs.
Emilien is a great pick-up, as poor free safety play has been the biggest problem with Michigan's defensive play in the 2008 season. Emilien brings speed to the Big Ten that nobody will be able to match.
Although free safety Stevie Brown will be a senior next year, watch for Emilien to compete for playing time, as Brown has blown deep coverage time and time again. This is something Vlad won't do.
Emilien is the 16th-best safety in this class and the 56th-best player out of Florida according to rivals.com. Emilien becomes the 20th member of the 2009 Michigan class, which is sure to grow in the next month. Vlad's teammate Josh Robinson is set to announce on Sunday and Michigan is one of three teams under consideration for his services.
