UM get commit from #12QB

Well after losing Kevin Newsome UM gets a commit from

QB Tate Foricer

Scout has him as a 4* #12 QB

From what I read about him is he has a great arm...

I see he only runs a 4.63 but his rushing stats look very nice..

As a junior at Diego (Calif.) Scripps Ranch, Forcier rushed for 733 yards on 66 attempts and had six touchdowns. He passed for 2,387 yards and 21 touchdowns with only five picks, for a 77% passer rating (164-for-213), which led San Diego County.

During his 2006 sophomore season at San Diego (Calif.) Scripps Ranch, Forcier threw for 1,637 yards and 16 touchdown passes and ran for 527 yards and six touchdowns, earning all-league and all-state honors. In the final game of the season, he threw for 271 yards on 19-of-28 passing and rushed for 162 yards and 11 carries.

Well, neither of them is Terrell Pryor and both will be a year behind him in learning the spread offense. However, they at least have the skills R2 needs to fully implement what he wants to do. Both will also be early enrollees, which means they will have some practices in the spring. I hope one of them is precocious enough to start next year. Someone on our board mentioned yesterday that Forcier could probably start over Threet and Sheridan next Saturday

I was a bit surprised to see the commitment and read his comments about the Utah game. It is great news on the heels of the Newsome de-commit the other week. I mentioned in another thread that I thought Newsome re-opening to all schools might bring Forcier back in to the fold.

It did, and quickly!

Here's the comment he made, victor: Forcier had the opportunity to watch Michigan's top two quarterbacks, junior Nick Sheridan and freshman Steven Threet, struggle in Michigan's 25-23 loss to Utah on Saturday. Where they were not able to get the job done, though, Forcier is confident he can step in and accomplish the task.

"I thought the quarterbacks did pretty good for it being the first game," Forcier said. "There's a lot of things I saw from the sideline even though I know it's not the same from the sideline. All I can say is that offense isn't for them, but it's tailor-made for me."

lol..I like the last comment he made...seems like he is confident in himself.

From what i read...seems like he is a good one. Nice pickup for you guys. UM class is looking nice...One player I really like is JT Turner S...I wanted him at Ohio State.

It's kind of funny to be talking about next year's recruits with only one game out of the way this year, huh??

All in all the M class is at least on par with Carr's typical year and the difference seems to be with the "athlete" type player now interested in MICHIGAN. Beaver, IMO, won't play QB but will move to the X-slot in the spread scheme.

The thing I like about Forcier is the interest and confidence. He wants it and thinks he can get it done - neither Threet or Sheridan was made to run RR's offense (which is a bit odd to watch as a 25yr fan of MICHIGAN).

Seems like a nice signing. They definitely need someone to be able to step in next season. I was surprised by how bad Sheridan was. It seemed as though he'd never played football before by the way he was just throwing the ball up there. Threet was a little bit better but still doesn't fit RichRod's system. Nice signing. I'm sure the right guys will get in there sooner than later.

What surprises me is that he isn't utilizing an offense with his
players strengths this year.

He can have his spread offense once he has the personnel
that can run it.

Well, these guys don't get to where they're at without being stubborn. And sometimes that stubborn attitude damns them. We'll see what happens.

I think the improvement week to week will be stark. I can recall Chad Henne's 1st game and watched Ryan Mallett look terrible at first last year. Sheridan will give way to Threet who will be more effective on game day (it's said Sheridan grasps the offense a bit better and has a stronger arm) and the system will get better week over week.
