I'm not sure, but he avoided getting sacked and made a key pass on 3-11 keeping a drive alive that helped win the game. In the beginning of the play everyone was covered, but he scrambled, avoided the sack, waited for the recievers to get open, and completed the pass for a first down. Mostly it's his presence. He smiles a lot...even when he does bad. It's infectious. Like I said, he has qualities that can not be taught.

There's only one performance that counts, fellow Buckeyes. That is in THE Game. I went to the Shoe last year. I saw it in person, where you can see the whole field. Henne played very well. He saw open men. He got them the ball. He released quickly and usually with accuracy. Yes, he missed a few passes but he threw a ton. You're gonna miss a few. Many of his inc's were dropped balls (Mario!). Most of his passes hurt us. Henne will be back in THE Game of '07 and he'll play well. Unfortunately.
It's a team game. Team's win and lose. Not guys. I agree, individuals and individual performance affect outcomes. Example, Troy during THE Game last year and the previous 2 years. But to make that comparison to Henne is just unfair.
We beat scUM last year because our O was just a bit more unstoppable, especially during the first half. Henne's good performance not withstanding.

So far I've been impressed with Mallet, although Henne was also impressive his Frosh year. We've been waiting ever since for him to "get it". Talented QB, but I don't think he has much of a future at the next level.

Definitely, if the standard for "good" is a future at the next level, Henne is NOT good. A wasted draft pick coming for someone... He's back-up material at best.
But he played well in the Shoe last year. His game was the best we endured last year, during a year of miserable QB performances by our opponents. If you look at stats, you'll see Henne-roid had as good an individual performance as Leak. Which just goes to show again, team performance controls outcomes and determines how an individual is judged, most of the time. Exceptional performances excepted...
For the same 'team' reason, I do not look for Mallet to be an OSU killer during his time.

I like your analysis. Very intuitive. My point was Mallet displays something Henne does not. His infectious smile during the game, even when he makes a mistake, to me says it all. As you stated, it's a team game. And it will require an exceptional team surrounding Mallet to earn him the title "OSU killer", but the persona he exudes, one that contrasts Henne's completely, gives me something to look forward to.
And for those of you who may be tempted to mis-read my intentions in what I have written about Henne, please don't. Henne has been great for Michigan. He has no reason that I see to hang his head, even if he was to leave without win over OSU or a victory in a bowl game.

Interesting, Crofty. I see few games, so will take your word about Mallet's demeanor. As you describe "it", indeed "it's" something Henne lacked, even while performing well. I'm not encouraged scUM might have a leader-in-the-making.
I'm not concerned either. The scUM program is derailed. End-year win(s) will only further disguise the tragedy unfolding in the bleak North. Mallet is unlikely to save a despairing program. TTUN needs management change, serious management change. Without it, Mallet, as good as his potential may be, probably will endure, not promote the program. Don't you agree?

"Don't you agree?" Nice technique. I would like to see Carr retire on his terms. I only hope he recognizes when the right time to do so has arrived.
On a side note, you break your posts up in paragraphs. "askbob" posts similarly too. Maybe it's a characteristic you both share that demostrates a certain level of intelligence. Maybe not.

Well, I don't know about the 'intelligence thing'. I just write so it might be easier to understand. But I'll take it as a compliment. On other hand I'm not 'technique-ing' anyone, my friend. Just trying to show you I'm interested in your opinion. Believe me, when I have a strong opinion different from yours (re: not open to alternatives), then you definitely will realize it. For example, see my post on Purdue Offense... in Buckeye Football 2007.
Crofty, I'm only on these boards to learn more about the teams I cannot watch on the Tube because I live in a backwards country that doesn't understand American football is WAY better than European football!
PS- Back to the topic (Mallet, scUM, and now Carr) I hope Carr stays a very, very, very long time. If that's among his terms, then I'm 100% in agreement with you! Adios.

No, crofty. But I can see from your posting accoutrements that you're either a vet or an admirer. Good on you! I'm not a vet but I appreciate those who are. If you are, then "thanks" from me.
My backwards country of current residence is the UK. It's a joke. I like it here. They're good people; not Ohioans, but good people nonetheless. Still I miss OSU during football season.

"accoutrements"
I had to look it up. Thanks for making me a little smarter. I'm in the Guard now after a 11 year hiatus from a stint in the "real" Army. It's a product of my mid-life crisis.

I expect Mallet to come up with one or more of those "exceptional performances excepted" and become an O$U killer, especially when he gets a new coach next year ;D
