Great thing Troy Smith did today

Several players went above and beyond after the conclusion of this morning's practice. Many of them spent several minutes signing autographs for fans perched along the sides of the practice field at McDaniel College in Westminster.

Fullback Le'Ron McClain made one young fan happy by giving the boy his skullcap. Linebacker Jarret Johnson retrieved cleats and gloves from the locker room and distributed them to young fans, nearly causing a mob scene in the process.

However, quarterback Troy Smith may have topped everyone. First, he granted one fan's request by giving him his Ravens cap. Then Smith asked wide receiver Darnerien McCants to grab three sets of cleats from his locker.

When McCants returned with the shoes, Smith took the cleats to several teammates, asking them to sign the shoes. Then Smith passed out all six cleats to young fans clamoring for them. It was a great gesture on the part of an athlete who is a hero to many.



Dude is just a great person...I was watching Mike and Mike today and they were talking about the Ravens QB. They said Smith should be the starter and the thing they like about him the most is that he is just a great person and they loved talking to him before.

Was listening to Mike and Mike this morning and they were talking about Troy having "it". They said not only is he a great QB but he has "it" (meaning being a great person). They both aggred you can't teach that.

the "it" they were refferign to was the "it" that it takes to win on the field. aka "knack", heart, desire, etc... at least that is the way i took it. They seemed to be commenting more on his ability then his personality, althought they did say nice things about his as a person at the end of the conversation.



(I think the "it" reffered to his play because their conversation started with the usual TS BS "he's only 6'0", but...")

Troy's high release compensates for his size which I wish NFL scouts would see...Unorthodox? Yes, but so is Drew Brees one of the best QBs in the NFL. I really hope Troy wins this job and never looks back. There hasn't been a better person to ever put on the Buckeye uniform in a long time if anyone.

No I don't have it. I'm a huge Vikings fan though. Vikings fan said that the pass pressure was really tough tonight and he still did ok all things considered. However, he still could have done better by getting rid of the ball. I believe he was sacked three times.
