How bizarre: OT: High school hoops

When I saw the headline of this, I thought to myself, this must really be two sh!tty teams... after reading the article I came away with the feeling these are two really sh!tty coaches, not necessarily because of their inability to coach, but rather them playing a game of keep away instead of a BB game. If I were a fan of either team, I'd be pissed and wouldn't be too excited about going to another game knowing this is possible. If I were a player, I'd be embarrassed. I know it wasn't their fault, but it certainly wouldn't make me feel like the coach had much confidence in the team and, NO ONE wants to be a part of a BB game, whether you won or lost 2-0.

To me this is as detrimental as the games you hear where one team beats the other by 100 points or more. Just play the freaking game the way it is supposed to be played and with some class if possible.

Makes me think of my son's Parks and Rec league he's in right now. The by-laws state that teams are drafted and unless you are the coach or asst coach, you can't stack your team by creating it ahead of time. Nor can you as a non coaching parent request certain coaches. The goal is balance. Somehow the HS coach managed to get all the AAU kids on one team. This is 3rd and 4th graders. Well, my son hasn't played this team yet, but after two weeks the AAU team has won both their games by more than 60 points. WTH is that teaching anyone? Our coach and some others are threatening to boycott games where we are scheduled to play the stacked team.

Same thing has been happening with my 8yo nephews little league baseball league. A coach in the know came in and stacks his team. It's a shame people suck the spirit of the game right away. The spirit is compete.. competition.
