"Sources familiar with the situation said the split was caused because the pair did not see eye to eye with the front office about quarterback Johnny Manziel. The front office wants Manziel to be the starter, and the source said the coaches do not believe they can win with him.

Shanahan felt the decision to start Manziel was forced on the coaching staff, and that the yearlong insistence to play him when he wasn't ready wore on Shanahan, the team source said.

According to the source, Shanahan is an extremely popular coach among the players, many of whom feel Brian Hoyer is a good quarterback.

"They are both smart to get out now," another source said about the exits of Shanahan and Loggains."

Kyle Shanahan is using it as an excuse to join hid daddy. It's not like Kyle has the most sterling reputation.

Wow......I guess I could understand sticking with this little sh!t if I saw ANY real potential to him becoming worth all the trouble he causes, but I don't. In just a couple of starts, he was pathetic. Absolutely awful. I suspect we're going to lose Joe Thomas and possibly, Joe Hayden, over him. Those guys will want to go elsewhere soon to get to the possibility of a championship before their time in the NFL is over. Staying in Cleveland while the management putzes around with Johnny Dumbass probably seems like a dead end to them right now.

Wow, this thing is like a total train wreck at this point. I am not shocked he has been a pain in the ass, but even I did not see it being this bad.

Ownership is the problem, not management. If ownership wants Manziel, they should step off and let the football guys run the show.

By "management", I mean everything above the coach and player level. There is a dysfunctional culture within the Browns organization, and until someone comes in and changes it, the team will struggle to find success.

Understood, but the GM and DPP have been revolving doors. The one constant in this era of constant turmoil is the owner.
