Yes this is a post about OSU Women Basketball. No I don't care about women basketball, but I do like Ohio State doing well in other programs other than the Big 2(FB and MBB, only two I care about). I do try to keep up here and there with the other sports though(M Hockey, Baseball, M Tennis, WBB, Volleyball, Softball, etc). I try to read how they're doing even though I don't follow them.
Okay now to the point of the thread:
Everyone knew this would be a tough year for Ohio State WBB team. Jim Foster didn't leave the program a lot to work with. Kevin McGuff is doing a great job turning them around though, and making them way better. They went 15-17 in the regular season(playing one of the toughest OOC you could play), so not great. Finished 8th in the Big 10. They need to win the The BTT to make it to the Big Dance.
Yesterday they beat NW(#9 B10 seed) by like 8, Sophomore guard Alston had 30pts. So by winning that, they got to play #1 seed PSU today who beat them twice in the regular season. And.........BOOM!
Ohio State pulls off the upset 99-82 over PSU! Sophomore Alston(First team B10) had 33pts(9assist) again(her 5th or 6th 3pt game of the year). Sophomore Craft(aaron craft sister) had 24pts(6assist) today! Huge win.
Maybe they could win the Big 10 Tourney(2 wins left to do so, going to be tough) and get into the Big Dance. That would be amazing from this set of team. Would be amazing job by McGuff and this program. They play tomorrow at 3:30PM vs the winner of the #4/#5 seed game.
Future
Future looks really good. They bring in a top 2 class next year(top 2 player in class) and 2 key transfers that can start playing in January(very good transfers, one who started for GT as freshman but left due to coach leaving). Alston(First team B10) their best player returns for two more years. Craft returns also for two more years. They will probably be a top 15 team next year, and potential to be a top 5 team the year after. That is how fast McGuff is turning the program around.
