Thad gets his 3rd commit for the 2014 class, and this time it is a big man.
During this high school season Garfield Heights (Ohio) center Dave Bell has flashed a lot of potential. The 6-foot-9 center is very athletic, runs the floor well, and had a good showing at the Flyin to the Hoop Tournament. That has turned into a commitment to Ohio State.
“Yes, Dave committed to Ohio State today,” said high school coach Sonny Johnson.
Bell made an impression in front of Ohio State assistant coach Dave Dickerson earlier in the month, and since then he has seen his stock really rise. Now the Buckeyes have taken a chance on the high potential center.
“Thad Matta offered him today,” said Johnson. “Ohio State is just the top school in Ohio and it is where he wanted to go so he figured there was no point in waiting.
Currently Bell is rated as the No. 20 center in the class of 2014, and he is the third commitment for Ohio State in the class. He will join forwards Keita Bates-Diop and Jae’Sean Tate in Ohio State’s recruiting haul which will now focus on perimeter options.
