The problem for May is that without Lou he's nothing. They needed someone to counter-balance May's constant criticism of all things Ohio State and Big Ten. As long as they had Lou then May was going to continue to have a job there because he brought 1/2 of the entertainment. Now that Lou is gone May no longer contributes to "entertainment" and only succeeds in pissing people off. Sure, that will cause people to tune in for awhile to see what he has to say. However, eventually people will look elsewhere for a sports channel and ESPN knows this. Good move on their part because simply May has outlived his usefulness on the show.
