Bo Ryan Shows His True Colors

After giving off a persona of an affable, friendly, and overall nice guy during this tournament, Bo Ryan showed the world why I hate him so much after Wisconsin's loss to Duke.

Whining about the refs, taking cheap shots at Duke and other schools as being one and done stops for athletes, and just general douche baggery.

Thanks for reminding me just why I despise you so much, Bo.

Where'd you see that? I saw two interviews with him and he was very positive in both. Not saying it didn't happen, just entirely different then what I've seen so far.

I know you, and a lot of other OSU fans, can't stand the guy but one can be the affable, friendly, and overall nice guy and make frustrating comments after a tough loss. Just makes the guy human.

IMO some of the opinions about Ryan from OSU fans are like those that opposing fans had against Aaron Craft. Don't make sense most of the time and those same people would love him if was playing/coaching for their team.

He does it in a very "beating around the bush" manner, but it's clearly there.

I get it if your a young guy and say something after a game, but you're supposed to be a coach setting the example and you pull this crap? Just classless IMO.

Might not have been the best moves by him, but I think reporters are spinning what he said about the officiating. I didn't read it as him making excuses about the loss...just commenting that it wasn't good. Is he wrong? Most people I have talked to mentioned how bad the officiating was throughout the whole tournament. No consistency at all.

The comments about rent a players was pretty weak. I hate the one and done rule, as does he. I think that was frustration speaking that when you go against the Dukes and Kentuckys of the world, they will have a different type of player than Wisconsin will. They draw more of the one and done caliber player. He said what a lot of coaches probably feel. He said it in a weak moment when his frustration was high. No a good move, but not one that is gonna change my opinion of the guy.

I think it was a way to take a shot at the officiating without blatantly coming out and blaming them. Yes, the officiating wasn't great, but that isn't the reason why they lost the game. I would rather he not bring it up, it makes him look like a whiner.

As far as even SAYING rent-a-player, that is clearly a shot at Duke and other universities that get better talent. It was pathetic, weak, and classless. It just reinforces my feelings about him. There is ZERO reason to say something like that, and it's garbage that he did. No excuse.

Classless? That's a stretch. You don't like him and I get that. If this was any other coach, I doubt it would garner any attention from you.

I think most of the OSU hatred for him stems from that Sullinger comment. I know I was pissed for a long time. I just starting looking at him more objectively and realized he's just a guy that speaks his mind and that gets him in trouble sometimes.

If he was an OSU coach and said these things, most fans would be making a statue to immortalize him.

He did exactly what you suggested. He didn't blatantly blame them. He even said they missed opportunities while Duke made shots.

The comments about rent a players was uncalled for, but calling it classless is funny to me. You have a pretty broad definition of that term.

The fact is, Bo Ryan doesn't do "rent-a-players" because they won't do him. He has recruited 2 players very recently who either were or are going to be 1 and dones - Kevon Looney and Diamond Stone. He comes off as a hypocritical douche.

Agree to disagree here. I think we are in agreement that most his comments were unnecessary. I think calling them pathetic an classless is way over the top but I am not condoning or supporting them either.

I don't mind the comments about the officiating. I'm pretty sure Matta complained about the refs after our last matchup with Sparty. However, I don't like the "rent-a-player" remark. That's rude and reeks of jealously. He's just mad those high quality recruits don't wanna come play for him. He's just like all those Sparty fans that say MD only targets underrated 3-4 star kids. We all know the top kids don't wanna play for your lame ass program lol. Let's just admit that instead of trying to sound noble. As CW mentioned, Bo wants the "rent-a-player" recruits but his credit application was denied.

Everyone hate Ketnucky because they get one and done after one and done, said it is bad for CBB. Bo Ryan says something and now he is classless, lol. Most coaches have come out and said they hate the one and done. It is a rent a player system, he speaks the truth.
