Honestly, I have no problem with it. The kid knew he was doing wrong, had no concern of the consequences at the time, and did something very stupid. With the security issues in this country, not to mention the shady people we have no idea about or what they're capable of, walking all around us everyday. Don't want consequences, don't do something so stupid to get in trouble when you certainly know better. He should lose his scholly for still being so stupid at the age of 21,... and he's an engineering major. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find someone more deserving of that scholarship.
Agree 100%. And I do want to see more of this with players when they go all stupid.
Not even comparable. The reason laws are broken as frequently as they are is because the consequences aren't harsh enough. The kid knew better... period.
As do the football players, yet a slap on the wrist? This guy will actually contribute to society unlike 25% of the football team.
If the kid got a speeding ticket or a DUI, he probably would not have lost his scholarship.
If we are comparing apples to apples, look at it like this:
If an OSU football player got drunk and ran onto the basketball court during an OSU game, there is a GOOD chance he would get kicked off the team.

Don't disagree. There are standards that go along with representing someone sponsoring you. There are much more deserving potential scholars than someone that represents your cause like this. This type of recklessness shouldn't be acceptable.

Comparing regular students to athletes doesn't work. Is it fair athletes are treated differently? No but we know they are.
I know that's how it works. I was pointing to the hypocrisy of some of the board that were all for this kid losing his scholarship over a pretty minor thing but not wanting the same punishments leveled towards the football or basketball players.
I suppose if it was a member of the bowling team, they would be cool with it too.
If this was a scholarship given by OSU I would totally disagree with it. It was extremely stupid, but the school tossing his schollie would be a bit much. Since it is being done by an outside provider, then you have to go with their criteria. It sounds like the scholarship is granted based on high character and this move would probably be grounds to take it away.
As for comparing this to a DUI? I'm sorry that is asinine. A DUI means that you put the lives at risk of any other driver or pedestrian on or near the roads where you are driving. This was a drunken prank that wasn't well thought out. The two things aren't even remotely comparable.
I'm not rooting for him to lose his scholarship, but I'm not going to feel sorry for him also. He made a dumb decision and messed up. Sucks, but every action has a reaction. SHould have thought about that before being an idiot.
Although, taking scholarship away does suck. I kinda feel bad for him now, lol.

Haven't read this myself, but a poster on another board said this isn't the first time he's done this. Apparently he got tossed out of MSG a few months ago.
