I felt once PSU got rid of the entire Paterno staff and Joe as well as the Administrators involved, paid millions (not from the athletic budget) to the families impacted, paid millions for the investigation, and were publicly tarred and feathered their punishment was adequate. Some here would disagree. However, I felt the NCAA reacted out of necessity and did not think through the issue fully. In an effort to look strong they lashed out and overreacted.

This is just going to help psu football program. Congrats to them. Franklin now has everything he needs to build them up.

I'm not a fan of using bowl bans as punishment. It punishes those not involved. If they wanted to punish them make them forfeit all financial earnings from that year and reduce scholarships. That impacts depth which makes it nearly impossible to be a title contender.

Find a way to punished the ones that broke the laws? Fine. But do it for every program and keep it that way.

That is all I'm saying. USc has felt their program fall for the past 7 years or so because of the punishment. Looks like they're back on their way up finally.

Psu got a get out of jail free card after year 2.

Healing for psu is far more important than trying to compare the fairness of punishment of two totally different situations.

You could argue psu hid this to gain a competitive advantage. If this got out, who would go to PSU? Oh wait, hide it and let the monster keep coming back even after you knew he did it.

USC was because bush was getting paid by an agent.

Do I think PSU punishment was harsh? Yes. Was it fair to the coaches/players/fans there now? No. Has the NCAA made harsh punishment to other programs? Yes. USC one of them? Yes.

Did any of those programs get a break? No. That is my point. I don't mind PSU getting a break but the other PROGRAMS should have got a break also.


PSU FB coaches and athletic program COVERED UP a RAPIST who did it kids on the FB program they held. Then let him come back EVEN after knowing he did that.

USC FB coaches covered up for Reggie Bush getting paid by agents.


Both schools were punished. One gets a break and it is the one that covered up a crime. That is FAIR? Is that FAIR?

Sure the PSU guys who did it are all gone. But so are the USC guys. Reggie Bush is making millions, Pete Carroll just won the SB. They're really hurting from the NCAA punishment!



There is no LOGIC to what the NCAA does. That is the PROBLEM. Hey PSU, I know you let a coach rape kids and get away from it, here is some relief for the punishments we gave you. Hey USC, we know one of your players and his family was getting paid by an agent, but F**K U, you're not getting any relief here! LOL.



It is WRONG to make PSU players pay for what happen there. Just like it is WRONG to make USC players pay for soemthing that happen 9 years ago. How comes PSU players get a break but USC didn't?

You are obviously to young to understand. You don't think the hundreds, if not more, of psu folks affected by this deserve to heal from being victim of a sexual predator in their back yard? You think that is in any way the same as kid taking money to play football at usc? Wow!

No, they won't forget what happened but just like any tragedy in life, the healing and moving on in life must take place. It is time for psu to move on.

Throw me in that pile as well - I completely get where Vic is coming from and finding it laughable that the NCAA lifted the bowl bans and removed the scholarship reduction. Vic wasn't comparing the reason for punishment between the two schools, he was comparing that the punishment was handed out and on one side, the NCAA lifted the 'sanctions' and on the other said no.

Make your punishment and stick with it.

Most likely it was lifted because the NCAA realized they overstepped their bounds with the punishment combined with the fact that EVERY dirtbag involved with this is gone/dead.
