NCAA Wrestling Tournament starts today at noon

And that means 141 lber Logan Steiber starts his quest for a 3rd national title (more than any other Buckeye wrestler in history). If he wins this year he has the chance to become only the 4th wrestler in DI history to win 4. I'd venture to say as a 2x jr high state champ, 4x high school state champ, and 4x NCAA champ (with an international career still remaining) that would make him the most accomplished wrestler from Ohio ever.

The Buckeye went 4 out of 8 in round 1. We lost a couple we could have won but Logan manhandled his guy, 133lb Johnny DiJulius won 15-5, Kenny Courts (184lbs) won 8-4, and top seeded Nick Heflin (197) won by injury default after going up 4-0.
Session 2 starts at 6 I believe. For the 1st round winners, 2 more consecutive wins (tonight and tomorrow morning) and they will earn AA honors.

By the way, the tweet Vic quoted was wrong as the kid Logan pinned didn't make it out of the 1st round.

Logan and Nick advance to tomorrow's championship quarterfinals (Logan won 17-1 and Nick won another by medical forfeit). DiJulius lost 5-4 (I believe) and Kenny Courts lost 13-6 (I think). Only 1 Buckeye was eliminated with his 2nd loss of the day. Ohio State will have 7 of the 8 wrestling in either the championship quarterfinals or consolation rounds tomorrow at noon.
Currently the Buckeyes are in 6th.

Logan and Heflin win their quarterfinal matches in dominating fashion (Logan with a pin and Nick with an 8-1 win) to claim a spot in tonight's semifinal. Logan will have a re-rematch against the only guy to beat him this year. Logan beat him 2 weeks ago in the B1G final 7-3. If the real Logan shows up it should be more of the same. Nick also gets a familiar guy in the semis as Nick beast him twice this year (the B1G semifinal most recently). If Nick wrestles to his capacity he too could be in the national finals tomorrow night. Tonight will be exciting for Buckeye fans.
In the conso rounds we lost 2 more from the tournament but DiJulius and Courts moved on. Courts beat a guy from ttun who had beaten him twice this season. These guys are 2 wins from AA status. I believe they can both pull it off but they will have to do their best wrestling from here on out.

Left out our heavyweight. He just won 4-2 and is still going after AA status (although that would be seriously over achieving if he did it).
5 out of 7 this round... not bad.

Both Courts (184lbs) and Tavanello (Hwt) win and are one win away from being guaranteed All American status. Tav is the biggest surprise as he lost his preliminary match and has won 4 straight to give himself a chance to place. I really thought he'd go 0-2.
Currently the Buckeyes are still in 6th.
Championship Semifinal and conso rouns of 12 matches start at 7pm.

Our guys in the consolation rounds both lost and have been eliminated. The Buckeyes are left with Logan in the finals and waiting to see where Heflin will end up.
