Should've went pro last year. He still can be a good pro but has turned into a head case this year. 50+ year old fan shouldn't be trash talking a college kid though obviously that doesn't absolve Smart.

The fan was like an 50+ year old also. What kind of person shows up to a college game just to do that?
Still, Smart has to find a way to keep calm and walk away(easier said then done probably) but I kinda wish someone punched the fan in the head if reports are true.
Smart clearly pushed the guy. Contact was made and it wasn't light.
There is no excuse for Smart pushing the fan. None. Period. He's going to hear a lot more and a lot worse in the NBA.
The fan should be investigated. If he did say something inappropriate, especially the N word, then he should have his season tickets revoked and be banned from all Texas Tech athletics.

I actually think you hear way worse in college. Get a lot more low-brow fans and drunken kids there. Nonetheless, he needs to learn to brush it off.
The fan needs to shut up and just be an observer. If you want to be a participant, lace up and ball, if not sit down, shut up, and enjoy the game.
That being said, Smart needs to be smarter (no pun intended). Easier said than done, but he needs to keep a cool head and NOT engage, especially physically, with a fan.
The good thing is it didn't escalate beyond a simple shove into a Ron Artest situation.
