In terms of the negative connotation...it's a little different in this case. Alcohol has been around for years...legally. Whereas we didn't have to live through the years where it was considered the devils liquid and such by those opposed. This is rather new and the same thing as those went through decades ago when it came to alcohol. It's going to have to go through its progression, much like gambling did after Las Vegas.
Ya, the overdose thing had to be laced with other types of drugs in it. As well, the cartel can go eff themselves as this would put an end to that corruption entering our country...
question, what is the price on this stuff in colorado and is it cheaper or more expensive than the street stuff? I'm assuming more pure as well...do they have an organic blend?
hehehehe
Yeah, I know, it's not an apples to apples comparison, I am just saying that there are other vices that had (and still have) a negative connotation that people aren't against anymore, and I am guessing that within a few decades weed will fall into that category.
That would be a big positive, the ability to reduce the 'war on drugs' or focus on more hardcore things, and like you said stop a lot of the border running and mexican drug cartels. It SHOULD help reduce crime.
I have no idea how much pot costs in Colorado vs on the streets, as I don't smoke so have never bought any, but I have to assume it's cheaper and more pure? Since there is no risk, people can grow larger quantities AND there shoudl be more producers, which would drive down the price. Just a theory though.
Just glad I'm old enough that I probably won't see a mind altering drug legalized where I live. I have seen my "stoner" classmates from years ago....sad....they got their weed but dig under car seats for cig or gas money, feed their kids with food stamp cards at a convienence store, plus it usually leads to other drugs. Yet my "drinking" friends have better jobs, nice families and stable lives...

exactly, this is what i was getting at...it'll take time, but right now I don't think the masses are ready for it to be legalized...most people are knee-jerk and stand for something even though they're not fully educated about it nor understand the both sides of an argument...reminds me of a few other topics that are polarizing.
