Best Conferences in Basketball (this year)

A thought just hit me to do this and the fact that our conference has recently sucked at football but our basketball is thriving so here it is

1. Big Ten- No doubt in anyone's mind here, most ranked teams, and now with the 15 team Big East gone we won't have much competition for tournament bids (BIG TEN BIG TEN BIG TEN!)
2. ACC- due to it's sheer size it is #2, has a lot of traditional powers and a lot of above average teams but is lacking that clear cut top
3. PAC 12- Have good top teams but they are yet to prove themselves, I for one think Arizona is weak but we'll see about that.
4. SEC- My football self hates saying this but I have to, have solid constant teams like UF and UK, we'll see how they fair in the NCAA Tourney
5. Big East- Villanova is there only legit team but Georgetown, Marquette, Butler, Xavier etc. are all good programs and may end up having good teams this year and in the following seasons.
6. American Athletic Conference- Louisville… Memphis?

When they put together all conference teams and play against each other I'll have an opinion

Amazing job Iowa HC has done there. Really turned Iowa into a respectful program and NCAA tourney team.

I'd put the ACC as 1A and the B1G as 1B

It doesn't matter as much in basketball since 68 teams make the tourney, and everybody plays 30+ games, although I suppose there may be some impact to seeding. So it's not like one loss would keep you from playing for a title if you're not considered to be in a top conference,

I haven't watched a whole lot of college hoops so far this year while football was going on (just to give you a frame of reference). But why is everyone so high on the ACC this year? Looking at the AP rankings, I only see 2 ACC teams there (#2 Syracuse, #16 Duke).

So why the big disconnect between the AP rankings and what appears to be a common consensus on this thread?

I know we're kind of overrated at this point, from looking at who we've played so far, so maybe there's some of that going on too (like UNC has several losses, but probably to really good teams).

Duke is better than 16 but a lot of new faces learning to play together. UNC can beat anyone but also can get in a serious funk. It's a fairly deep conference across the board though.

I never personally said that although I do wonder how the three top teams will hold up come tourney time. They don't seem overly impressive to me but they win almost every game so far and that's really all that matters.

MSU has been impressive IMO, I haven't seen much of Wisky.
