Llllloyd's Retirement ? ?

Should Lloyd Carr announce his retirement before "the game"
this Saturday, it will affect the effort from the Michigan team.

Much like the firing of Earl Bruce in the late 80's, the Buckeyes
put out an effort that day to overcome what seemed to be a
loss into a victory. Look out fellow Buckeyes, it will tough to beat
them should it happen.

Many have speculated that Michigan would fire Lloyd, also.
Put that thought on the back burner, Michigan doesn't fire their
football coaches. Instead, the coach will retire from the sidelines only.
He will be made a part of the administration if he so desires, that
seems to be the tradition of Michigan football.

We have a rival that is rich in tradition and when they name a
head coach, he is there for as long as he wants to be. That much
I will say about the University of Michigan.

Why would he retire at this point ? Who knows ?

Maybe he feels he has lost it.
Maybe he is embarrassed at the dissmal start of the season.
Maybe he wants to go fishing.
or Maybe he just thinks it is time to hang 'em up.

No matter the reason (should it happen), the Buckeyes need to
strap 'em on tight this Saturday......................................
.......................................it will be "The Game", with incentive.

Golden, aren't you afraid you'll be run out of BuckeyeNation for even saying "Go Blue" in jest? Some on my board wanted to run me off for saying "Go Bucks" on the day of the NC game last January (trying to support the Big Ten against the evil SEC).

Anyway, I was presenting this exact scenario last July and everyone thought I was kidding. I'm not sure that this motivation will be enough with H & H not healthy, but it can't hurt.

Did you see the exchange Buckeyeabroad and I had about this on the thread he started? I tried to explain the differences between Bo's death last year and Lloyd's retirement this year (in terms of motivation). He didn't believe me though

These guys already play their asses off during The Game. This might affect performance +/-1 or 2%. That's all. This could even be a distraction for scUM; i.e., a negative thing for them.

Anyway, it's one of those immeasurable things, guys. Hypothetical Scenario: Lllloyd announces retirement pre-game. scUM wins. Question: Do you say scUM won because Lllloyd announced? If so, you imply they would have lost if Lllloyd didn't retire or if he announced after The Game. C'mon guys, who the hell would know if you're right or wrong?

I'm more interested in how the lines play. Do the corners shut down Mario Mann-in-hand(cuffs). Is Hart/Henne 100%. Do our l-backers outplay scUM backers. Is the scUM too slow for our O. Can Robo and Beockman hook up for a long ball. What tricks get pulled. You want to see the effects of coaching, then watch who gameplans better, who makes adjustments best that we know will be necessary.

These are the things that determine the outcome of The Game.

I think they know me by now............I have never hated any team,

They probably have the stick ons you're interested in the sections
related to each team.

Michigan stick-on = Michigan store front
Ohio State stick-on = Ohio State store front

And Michigan coaches do get fired. Bump Elliot in 1968; Gary Moeller in 1993.

Looks llike he did great when he first started (3 Big Ten Champs), then dropped off in the last couple years.

But I think it was his drunken shenanigans that prompted him to resign.

First, I will not say go brand X. I will echo the sentiments of others for a hard fought and injury free game. I can say this I do cheer for Michigan in their bowl and the entire B10 during the bowls. What ever the results tomorrow...let's get our schitt together and go kick the other conferences in the teeth.
