I don't care about Nascar either, but I would love to see Gordon win. All the rednecks hate him which cracks me up.

Racing is different as it needs involvement/experience to really appreciate it.

Raced against Gordon back in his USAC Days. Thats where i got my hate, aka jealousy. We had a nice operation back then but when silver spoon showed up it was 2nd fittle. When we destroyed a car, motor etc our day was most likely done, we usually rolled with 1 extra motor and chassis but the turn around was event full. Gordy and teams like simply pushed the carnage aside to the side, grabbed another and moved on.

If Jeff wins it i will lose no sleep as he has been a Great ambassador for our sport but im rooten for my boy Harvick..... Met him and his team in the Childress shop back in the Ac Delco days before Dale died... Great group of peeps. Besides he runs a Stewart Haas ride and ill save the Tony stories for another day....

I did it at Orlando, it's a Disney owned property...i heard they recently tore it down. It was a one mile tri-oval, so you didn't have a lot of straight away, unfortunately. Fastest i could go was 141 down the straight...it was a really cool experience, had the full fire suit, helmet, camera filmed it, recorded lap times.

We went in groups of 8, i did the fastest lap time and highest speed...was so cool. I want to do Daytona, because i heard they'll let you go up to 165 down the straight away.

In terms of this weekend, not a fan of Harvick...his wife bugs me and he seems like a p**sy. Always been an Edwards fan, but i think Jeff gets a bad rap due to the Cali connection. I had a friend who knew him and he did a cool thing for his nephew who had leukemia, Jeff came by to visit and brought a sh!t load of memorabilia, , child size fire suit, helmet, kind words and a lot of time just hanging out.

Yeah and going to a race is a thing in and of itself. It's an event, like going to an airshow. It's cool to see. But that and actually following the sport and watching it on TV are two different things. Just because it's fun to see cars go flying past your face at what seems like a million miles an hour, doesn't mean I will suddenly care about who is even winning the race, much less what happens in another one I am not at.

That's where I don't understand the fascination with NASCAR, or racing in general, unless one bets on races perhaps. And if you're going to bet on a race, horses are better and the whole thing is over faster.

I'd probably be more inclined to follow a sport like racing if it were a true team sport with geographic-based teams and not such an individualized sport based on commercial sponsors.
