Agreed, and that is my point.

It's more about who the team is (see: winners) than the cheating and/or the cover up.

If people were truly mad about deflating the footballs and lying about it, then it shouldn't matter if the team went 16-0 or 0-16. Cheating is cheating.

This is, IMO, similar to OSU. Tatgate happened, Tress covered it up and lied about it, and the country acted like he drowned a burlap sack of puppies and kittens.

In the same time, GT, UNC, and many other schools had similar or WORSE violations, and it got almost no attention.

It's not about the crime (or rules violation) it's about who commits it.

he let a fraction of air out...not a big deal IMO, all qb's mess with the balls. He got caught and everyone goes nuts because he's a winner. If this were EJ Manual nobody would give a rip.

Letting a little air out of the footballs is not that big a deal. We agree.
Stealing the balls out of the ref's dressing room after they were inspected? THAT shows intent and a blatant disregard for the rules. They got off light, imho.

This is like Tatgate. The letting the air out of the balls, like the actual infractions with OSU, isn't that big of a deal. The big deal is how Brady, and the rest of the Patriots handled it afterwards. Same with Tress.

Yes their offense was worse than tatgate. My point was really that the cover-up/lying/hiding the truth was worse than the actual offense. In both cases if they just admitted their part it would be over and done with and no big deal.

Some people might put a * but Tom Brady will still go down as one of the greatest QB all time and will still be in the talk of being the greatest QB of all time. And for good reason, he should be up there.

This is minimal and nothing like corking a bat...and if you ask anyone close the game or have heard them speak in the past, all qb's mess the footballs. It's minuscule and to say I'm way off here, just don't agree with it. I think it was Peter King that did a piece with Rodgers early last year and he mentioned he likes his balls, jeeezus, to be a certain way...

The media has blown this way out of proportion...sure, he broke a rule, penalize him for it, which they have...but people talking about a legacy altering perception? That's just asinine....
