I am not going to get into the politics of police brutality vs the difficulty of being a police officer, it has been hashed out enough on this board.
And while I believe 100% in a people's right to peacefully assemble, what is happening now is nothing more than a riot. It is uncalled for and accomplishes nothing positive. All it does is hurt the community and sully the name of the person who they are rioting for. It's disgraceful.

So is killing unarmed people just because they are poor/black.
I don't agree with the folks rioting, but I understand why they are. And far too much denigration is being lobbed at the rioters instead of the people whose actions are prompting that response.

They keep voting the same way and they are treated like victims then be enabled. Black mayor, chief of Police and majority black police force and they are being held down?
Where were the guns last night? Burning and looting down black owned business?? Don't tell me they did not know. They have created their hell and know no better. Obama has TOTALLY missed an opportunity last night.

This is not just a police issue. They are frustrated at their lives.
I do not understand damaging riots to protest the wrongful death of anyone. Sadly, I am becoming desensitized to it and expect it anytime there is something in the media related to the subject.
She said, "“I made it very clear that I work with the police and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech,” Rawlings-Blake said. “It’s a very delicate balancing act. Because while we try to make sure that they were protected from the cars and other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well. And we worked very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to de-escalate.”
Then, the office released a statement to explain what she meant . . .
“What she is saying within this statement was that there was an effort to give the peaceful demonstrators room to conduct their peaceful protests on Saturday. Unfortunately, as a result of providing the peaceful demonstrators with the space to share their message, that also meant that those seeking to incite violence also had the space to operate. The police sought to balance the rights of the peaceful demonstrators against the need to step in against those who were seeking to create violence. The mayor is not saying that she asked police to give space to people who sought to create violence. Any suggestion otherwise would be a misinterpretation of her statement.”
And of course, she denied ever saying what she said . . .
The mayor has now issued a denial, claiming that she "did not instruct police to give space to protesters seeking to create violence." Of course, this lies in contrast to what she said on Sunday, prior to receiving criticism for her outrageous admission.
We get the government we deserve.

As for the mayor, she is a nightmare, and is only making it worse.
And bot, gotta love that Obama. I remember in 2008 when all he talked about was how he would bring the people and the parties together. I honestly cannot remember a time in my 42 years where this country has felt so divided. And I am not saying it is all his fault, but I also do not think he has done a damn thing other than state the glaringly obvious.
