I disagree. Pete is spot on, and they're not putting him in the Hall, so he might as well speak his mind. This seems like as good a time as any to bring up the absurdity of his situation.
Baseball is exceptionally concerned about the gambling rule in order to protect the credibility of the game. If it were to be common knowledge that the outcome of baseball games is fixed, it would be about as relevant to the sports world as Pro-Wrestling.
If Pete had admitted the problem when the allegations first came to light, it would have been an interesting conversation, and I think the public would have been more forgiving, but I'm not sure if baseball would have budged.
Baseball doesn't care if you beat up your wife or get convicted of drug trafficking, or make a career out of cheating. They've admitted people to the Hall that have done each of those things. Baseball just cares about making it's business profitable. Banning Pete from the game had nothing to with him doing something immoral.
